Outside my Window… It is night. A curl of smoke comes out of our chimney and I sit by the fire cozy and happy. I am thinking…that a lot of wonderful things have happened this year and I’m looking forward to next . . . I am wearing . . . jeans and a red long-sleeve shirt. Black bella band. From the learning room… we’re enjoying playing with all of our new Christmas toys . . . Lloyd is loving some of his new puzzles, including 48-piece puzzles and lots of books, Luke is loving coloring everything and I gave T. The Way to Make Wine and How to Brew so we’re ALL learning around here! I am thankful… for having an extra long weekend with T. at home. I’ve [... To read more, click here ...]
A Picture Thought to Share . . . I meant to have this ready to post for Thanksgiving, but regardless, we have much to be thankful for! Ahem, ahem . . . hint, hint. Outside my Window… It is grey and the trees are bare, leaves carpeting our yard en masse. We raked on Saturday, but it doesn’t even look like we made a dent! I’m hoping it snows soon and covers it all up! I am thinking…that a lot has been happening around here these past few weeks, most happy, some sad, some just frankly time and energy sapping, which has left little time for blogging or keeping up to date on other blogs, their promotions, etc. sigh. Home and family comes first. I am wearing . . . [... To read more, click here ...]
A Picture Thought to Share . . .Our sugar-pie pumpkins! We tried to keep them until Halloween, but alas, they had to be roasted early and the pumpkin puree is waiting in the freezer for Thanksgiving. Outside my Window… It is beginning to feel like fall! We spent the weekend cleaning up the yard and pruning in readiness for colder weather! Even have some firewood stacked up, just in case! I am thinking… about our upcoming week. Lloyd starts preschool tomorrow (yikes!) An answered prayer but also something I’m kind of apprehensive about. We wanted to find a local, church-based preschool and we were lucky enough to be in the first class in our parishes new preschool! Only 8 miles away (which is great as we live in the country!) [... A Picture Thought to Share . . . We just got back last night from a week-long trip out to Seattle to meet my new niece, Kaya, and visit with family! Isn’t she just a little angel? I am thinking…about lunch. Pretty scintillating stuff around here, but I’m hungry and tired from traveling, so lunch is about all I can handle right now. I am wearing . . . black yoga capris, black tank top, black cardigan. My “we just got in at midnight last night from flying all day with two children three and under and I’m still recuperating with my second cup of coffee” ensemble. From the learning room… I’ve been studying up on the Alphabet Path and on the Catechism of the Good Shepherd lately, basically a [... To read more, click here ...]
A Picture Thought to Share . . . I don’t get many pictures of “me” these days – on the blog or otherwise; I’m normally the one wielding the camera. So when both boys wanted to snuggle after lunch at the air show this past weekend, I handed the camera to T. and asked him to shoot away! This is the best one. Outside my Window… There is a crispness in the air and I love it! I’m browsing autumnal jackets (love it in green!) and thinking about getting my sweaters out of storage over the long weekend . . . I am thinking… about what to wear for my date night with T. tonight! Very excited . . . we’re going to go wine-tasting and appetizer-ing at a local [... To read more, click here ...]
A Picture Thought to Share . . . Since my last daybook, I became a tia again! Isn’t my sister Julia GORGEOUS!?! Motherhood agrees with her . . . and our prayers have been answered! Welcome Baby Kaya! I can’t wait to meet you next month! I seriously think Kaya has more hair than Luke. And he is almost 16 months old. Sigh. Outside my Window… Sauna-riffic is the weather around here these days. Kind of makes it hard to enjoy summer when you walk outdoors and you immediately become slick with sweat and humidity. Ugh. I’m ready for September. I am thinking… about this post. On Being Gathered . . . Inspired. And Thankful. And Overwhelmed. I am wearing . . . black tank top and yoga pants. Doubt [... To read more, click here ...]
Daybook for Today, June 21, 2010 Outside my Window… Lilies are blooming in force. Old fashioned orange day lilies flank our house, and our vineyard while yellow day lilies are breaking their joyful faces near our pond. We also have a few light and bright pink ones here and there smattered in between our roses. It is gorgeous. I feel like I’m living in a secret garden, with something new and surprising blooming every week! I am thinking… about beginnings and endings. I decided to step down from the momaha team this week; a very difficult decision, but one that I am feeling relief about. . . I’m looking forward to re-focusing on my family and home, and continuing to write on parenting, just not every week via strict deadline! [... To read more, click here ...]
Daybook for Today, May 25, 2010 Outside my Window… Pink peonies are in bloom! I have ALWAYS wanted peonies in my garden and was thrilled to find out I’d inherited three or four good size bushes when we bought this house! Some are seriously dinner plate sized and they are filling my indoors and outside with beautiful scent. sigh. I love it! (White ones are still in bud. Can’t wait to see those too!) I am thinking… about a million things at once. Between now and a week from today I need to write two posts for momaha.com, a cookbook review, set up two giveaways (hints coming soon! They’re going to be fun!) and maybe write and post a few recipes here as well! Why between now and next Tuesday? [... To read more, click here ...]
